We Have a Purpose was founded in November 2014 in response to a growing need to support youth navigating social, emotional, behavioral, and environmental challenges. Through years of direct service, we quickly learned a powerful truth: meaningful change for youth cannot happen in isolation.

As our work deepened, we recognized the critical role parents and caregivers play in a child’s development, stability, and long-term outcomes. Guided by the Person-in-Environment (PIE) approach, we understand that a young person’s well-being is shaped not only by individual experiences, but by family dynamics, home environments, schools, and communities. When families are unsupported, youth struggle to sustain progress.

In response, We Have a Purpose expanded its focus to serve the entire family. Today, our services intentionally address both youth and parents through prevention, intervention, and supportive programming that strengthens families as a whole. By equipping caregivers, reinforcing healthy family systems, and addressing environmental barriers, we create lasting impact that extends beyond the individual and into the community.

Our commitment is rooted in a simple belief: when families are fortified and supported, youth are empowered to thrive with purpose, creating stronger, healthier communities for generations to come.
